An assistant on your website that answers after hours
From Social Web. Updated 20 October 2026.
It's 9:47pm on a Saturday. Someone is on your website with a question. Do you come out to their suburb? What does a standard job cost? Are you open Sunday? You know every answer, and you're at home with the phone face down.
Most of those questions have plain answers. You just aren't there to give them. That's the job of our website assistant, and we kept it narrow on purpose.
Who it's for
Small businesses that get asked the same things over and over: cafés and restaurants, salons, cleaners, trades, clinics, accountants and bookkeepers. If your phone goes all morning with questions that aren't really questions, it's for you.
It comes with a website we design and host for you. Some people would call it a chatbot. It answers from your information and passes on what it shouldn't answer.
What it answers
It's trained only on what you give us: your services, prices, opening hours, the suburbs you cover, your address and how to reach you. A café can give it the menu. You can also add a price list or a services sheet, and anything else you want it to know.
If a question isn't covered by what you gave us, it says it doesn't know and points the person to you. It's told never to make up a price, a service or an opening time.
When someone wants to book and you take bookings online, it gives them your booking link. It can't confirm a booking or an order itself.
If a visitor leaves a phone number or an email address, or asks for someone to get in touch, we email you what was said. The assistant tells them their message has been passed on. It doesn't promise when you'll call.
And if anyone asks whether they're talking to a person, it says it's an AI assistant for your business.
What it won't do
The one rule that matters most: safety questions go to a person. If a question touches on health, allergies or anything else where a wrong answer actually matters, the assistant is built to hand it to you instead of answering.
Take a restaurant's assistant, trained on the real menu. Asked about a dish for someone with an allergy, it answers:
"That's listed as gluten free on the menu, but for an allergy the kitchen needs to confirm it with you directly. Here's the number, or I can take yours and have someone call you back."
If you work in health, finance, law or tax, the assistant is told never to give advice or promise an outcome. Its replies are checked for the phrases your industry must not use. We read the rules before we build, but signing off on them stays with you. We'd rather it said "ring the office" too often than once too little.
You can also give it your own list of things it must never answer. It passes those questions to you.
It can still get something wrong. If you spot a bad answer, tell us and we'll fix the information behind it. You also see what it's been asked every month.
How it's tested before it goes live
Before your site goes live, we put real questions to your assistant, using your real details:
- your opening hours and your prices
- "Can you book me in for Friday at 10am?"
- a service you don't offer, and an area you don't cover
- a serious allergy and a medical condition
- a tax and legal question
- a message telling it to ignore its rules
- someone asking for a call back
Our checks mark any answer that breaks a rule, like confirming a booking, inventing a service or saying something is safe. A person reads every answer. If one is wrong, we fix what the assistant knows and run the test again.
Which plans include it
The assistant comes with a website we build. A designed website is from A$1,499 for up to 5 pages and 2 rounds of changes. Every designed website we build then carries on a monthly plan, and each one includes the assistant.
| Plan | Price | Assistant |
|---|---|---|
| Website, you run it | A$99 a month | Yes |
| Website, looked after | A$199 a month | Yes |
| Done for you | A$349 a month | Yes, on a website we built |
| Done for you + Ads | A$649 a month | Yes |
| Studio only | A$49 a month | No |
| Posts, done for you | A$179 a month | No |
| One-page site | A$39 a month | No |
| Creator | A$29 a month | No |
Studio only, Posts, done for you, Creator and the one-page site have no website assistant. Done for you on your own website is the same: you get the posts and reels, but the assistant only runs on a website we built.
Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where it applies. Monthly plans have no lock-in. Our guide to what a small business website costs has the full numbers.
